“We’re leaving on a Jet Plane”🎶

Image
We are packing up and getting ready to leave a country and it’s people that we love. What an amazing adventure we have shared!  Before we go to the airport we will stop at a very special place: House of Light. House of Light is a home that cares for children with special needs.  It is home filled with light, love, joy and peace. We will see scripture painted on brightly colored walls. We will meet children who are well cared for and well loved. Our hearts will be moved by the amazing people who provide such excellent care❤️.  After the House of Light we will head to the airport and return to our separate homes- we will return forever changed by serving on this Nurses on a Mission 2024 team. We will be apart, but our shared memories will hold us together. Adios amigos!

Home visits

Image
It was another great day in the neighborhood. Today our team did home visits. Everyone was so warm and welcomed us into their homes., I believe we have all learned lessons from our Dominican friends.  It was a warm one today, but our team did not let that affect our work. One man in the community opened his home to us for the day and we set up our pharmacy in his kitchen.  The kids were so excited to get crayons and coloring books! Of course they loved the Dum Dum suckers! Lots of sweet smiles! Each team member ( all 22 of us) has played an important role in our mission. God has truly blessed us from the time we began planning this trip up until this time when our time in the DR is coming to a close. We can’t believe how fast our time here has gone- when we get on the plane tomorrow I believe that each one of us will leave a little piece of our heart here in the Dominican Republic.  We all have had unique experiences and shared experiences. This trip has brought us ...

Waterfall

Monday was our free day. We toured a local clinic. There was a man in the community who was sick so we transported him to the clinic and our own Jace Sama started an IV on him.  After lunch we headed out to the waterfall- beautiful!! Some swam, some jumped and everyone enjoyed the beauty that God provided.

Zoombador

Another beautiful day in the DR. We visited the community of Zoombador. Met many wonderful people. When our clinic ended the pastor of the church held a special service for our team.  We are all doing well. We continue to be amazed by the people we meet. Many of them have so little in material things, but they have such joy. Hope we are all learning something about their lifestyle.  These girls were thrilled with the dresses the ladies of Generations made for them. Tomorrow we have the day off. We will be visiting a local clinic and then going to a waterfall.  What a blessing this trip has been for our team of 22!

El Betay Clinc

Great 1st clinic day in El Betay! Our team did a great job serving this sweet community. The people were so friendly and made us feel welcome. It was a warm and humid day- after the clinic the children of the community asked the team to go to the river and play! A welcome relief from the heat and a chance to spend more time with some sweet kiddos.  Everyone is doing well- we will have another clinic tomorrow in another community. We are also looking forward to worshipping with our Dominican brothers and sisters.  Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!!
